Welcome to CAL FIRE

Wildfire Awareness Week

Each year CAL FIRE urges residents of the importance of preparing for wildfires during Wildfire Awareness Week. CAL FIRE will use May 4-10, 2008 to promote the theme, "Why 100 feet?... Because defensible space is YOUR responsibility." With 100 feet of defensible space, homeowner's living in wildfire hazard areas can greatly increase their homes chance of surviving a wildfire. To learn more on how you can prepare your home for a wildfire, check out our defensible space section and our new wildland hazard and building codes section.
