Local Responsibility Area Maps

CAL FIRE has posted draft maps for Fire Hazard Severity Zones in Local Responsibility Areas. These are draft maps intended for local agencies and others to review areas of Very High Fire Hazard Severity and provide input to CAL FIRE. The Director will develop final recommendations for Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones to transmit to local agencies. Since the maps are draft and are under review by local agencies, all rankings (Very High, High, and Moderate) in Local Responsibility Areas are shown for reference. Ultimately, only recommendations for Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones in Local Responsibility Areas ultimately will be made by the Director.

GIS data associated with maps of Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones in the Local Responsibility Area is now available. In addition there is a list of cities that contain Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zones.

State Responsibility Area Maps

CAL FIRE adopted Fire Hazard Severity Zone maps for State Responsibility Areas in November 2007. The maps and related regulations were approved by the Office of Administrative Law.

CAL FIRE and the University of California, Berkeley Center for Fire Research and Outreach have developed a searchable map of fire hazard severity zones in State Responsibility Areas in California. The site enables users to enter an address to determine the proposed fire hazard zone for a certain property in SRA.
