Project Location

The carbon certification project is located at LaTour Demonstration State Forest. LaTour is located in the southern Cascade Mountains in Shasta County, northeast of the city of Redding. The project site is located in approximately 300 acres of burned-over mixed conifer and ponderosa pine forestland and brushfields surrounded by true fir located in the northeast portion of the forest.

These sites have been managed to various levels of intensity over the past thirty years. Some areas supported trees over a century ago, but are pure brushfield now. In the 30-year old fire area, there are places where trees have overlapped the shrubs and other areas in need of site preparation and replanting. Management has the potential to dramatically change carbon sequestration rates in the project area.
