Crews are continuing to complete suppression repair operations on the 3-1 Pit Fire. Several resources were reassigned to assist with a new fire in the area, but suppression repair efforts remain ongoing. Weather conditions today are warm and dry, which may increase fire behavior and require continued vigilance.
Fire personnel are finishing Fire Suppression Repair efforts, while working continuously on the remaining hot spots along the Pit River Canyon.
Fire personnel continue to make steady progress on the 3-1 Pit Fire. Crews are completing fire suppression repair operations throughout the incident while focusing on extinguishing the remaining hot spots located within the Pit River Canyon.
The final hot spots are in extremely steep, rocky, and rugged terrain, making access challenging and requiring firefighters to work carefully and methodically. Crews will remain in the area until all remaining heat has been fully extinguished and suppression repair activities are complete.
Fire personnel continue to make good progress on the 3-1 Pit Fire. Crews are strengthening and improving containment lines while working to establish a continuous black line around the entire fire perimeter.
Heavy equipment operators and fire personnel remain assigned to fire suppression repair, rehabilitating areas impacted by suppression activities and reducing long-term effects on the landscape where possible.
Today, the fire area is experienced hotter and drier conditions. A small area of rain fell over the smaller fire that is part of the Loomis Fire today, providing wetting rain without any additional lightning activity.
Firefighters continue to strengthen and reinforce containment lines around the 3-1 Pit Fire while making steady progress on mop-up operations. Crews are locating and extinguishing isolated hot spots within the fire perimeter to further secure the incident.
Personnel and heavy equipment remain engaged in fire suppression repair, working to reduce the impacts of suppression activities and restore affected areas where appropriate.
Thunderstorms and lightning moved through the area yesterday, resulting in a few new fire starts. Ground and air resources responded quickly and were able to rapidly contain and extinguish those fires, preventing further spread.
Firefighters continue to extinguish remaining hot spots and are completing a blackline around the entire perimeter of the fire to help secure containment. Crews are also continuing suppression repair efforts, with plans to complete those activities by the end of the day tomorrow.
