The Gibby Fire remains at 230 acres and is 78% contained.
Firefighters continue to make progress by strengthening control lines and extinguishing hot spots throughout the fire area. Containment has increased to 53%, and the fire is now 230 acres.
The Gibby Fire is currently 217 acres and 5% contained.
The fire is 217 acres and 5% contained. Firefighters took advantage of cooler temperatures and higher humidity overnight to strengthen control lines, extinguish hotspots, and further secure the fire’s perimeter to keep the fire within its current footprint.
Forward progress of the fire has been stopped and crews will remain on scene for mop-up and patrol.
All shelter-in-place orders have been lifted. Ortega Highway will remain closed from Gateway to Grand in Riverside County.
Firefighters are making good progress on the fire. Crews are actively constructing and strengthening containment lines while working in close coordination with firefighting aircraft to slow the fire’s spread and increase containment.

Road Closures established for the Gibby Fire : SR-74 (Ortega Highway) is closed Eastbound at Gateway in Rancho Mission Viejo and Westbound at Grand in Lake Elsinore.
New start in Orange County off Ortega Highway- Gibby Fire is approximately 130 acres. Firefighting resources are being significantly increased to support suppression efforts. Additional ground crews and firefighting aircraft have been ordered and are responding to the incident.
