Current Situation

Situation Summary

The Mosquito Fire exhibited extreme fire behavior yesterday and continued to burn overnight in the vicinity of Oxbow Reservoir. Weather conditions today with near
record high temperatures, very low relative humidity, and critically low fuel moistures which will provide extreme burning conditions which are expected to
allow the fire to actively burn, with the potential for spotting.

Firefighting personnel will focus on building containment lines around the fire through the removal of fire fuels, and tactical patrol around the fire perimeter. This
involves both manual line construction with hand crews and mechanical line construction utilizing bulldozers. Firefighters assigned to tactical patrol will work to
keep the fire within the current fire perimeter. However, very steep terrain will continue to challenge all personnel and make direct attack difficult.

All those living or visiting the fire vicinity should prepare to evacuate if an evacuation order and/or warning is made, and those who need extra time to evacuate should
give themselves additional time to do so. Be Ready, Set, Go in the event of wildfire near you. Visit www.readyforwildfire.org
