Situation Summary
Firefighters responded to reports of black smoke in the area of Grubbs Road and Dunstone Drive in the Wyandotte area southeast of Oroville. The first engine arrived to find the fire on Blazeford Gulch, burning in grass near outdoor equipment and vehicles and threatening a home. Ground crews attacked the right flank of the fire while an air tanker made retardant drops across the head and left flank. As resources continued arriving, hand crews and a dozer worked to build containment lines while engine companies made sure the fire didn't affect the home. Forward spread of the fire was stopped within 45 minutes. CAL FIRE investigators are at scene working to determine the origin and cause of the fire. Resources remain at scene mopping up hot spots and continuing to strengthen containment lines.
