Incident Update Pickett Fire

Situation Summary

• Overnight, the head of the fire was challenging the primary control lines by making slope-driven runs and short-range spotting was observed, but crews were able to hold it within the established contingency lines.
• Three night-flying helicopters played a critical roll in supporting ground crews to keep the fire within those contingency lines.
• A primary objective for Saturday is to fortify control lines on the right shoulder near Friesen Drive to close off its spread potential there. A secondary objective will be to focus on the left (northern) shoulder of the fire.
• UAS operations were also conducted overnight on the fire for reconnaissance.
• The incident has been well supported with sufficient resources at scene. Included in that is experienced line-leadership who have the experience of battling a fire in the same terrain from back during the 2020 Glass Fire. Their local knowledge has been invaluable.
• Evacuation orders and warnings remain in place.
