Incident Updates
The Tusil Fire is now 100% contained.
Firefighters held the fire within its current footprint overnight, with no additional growth reported. Crews continue to search for and extinguish interior hot spots within the fire perimeter to further strengthen containment. Fire suppression repair operations remain ongoing, including rehabilitation of dozer lines and other areas impacted during suppression efforts.
EVACUTION WARNINGS are lifted.
Firefighters increased containment of the fire to 55% this evening as favorable weather conditions and moderated fire behavior supported suppression efforts. Crews will remain committed throughout the night to strengthen control lines and mitigate hazards along Interstate 8.
Evacuation Orders in the affected area have been downgraded to Evacuation Warnings, and all road closures related to the incident have been lifted.
The size of the fire has been decreased to 820 acres, due to more accurate mapping provided by CAL FIRE Intelligence aircraft.

The fire is 1,000 acres 10% contained. Firefighters are making good progress on the fire and working hard to stop the forward rate of spread.
The fire has grown to 550 acres and is now 10% contained. Fire activity remains active as the fire has spotted across Interstate 8, challenging containment efforts. Firefighters continue to aggressively attack the fire from the ground and air.
Residents in the area are urged to evacuate immediately if directed or feel unsafe. Please remain alert to changing conditions, monitor for evacuation updates, and be prepared to leave.
Firefighters and aircraft continue to work in coordination to keep the fire north of Interstate 8. Structures in the area remain threatened, and Interstate 8 remains closed as firefighting operations continue. Crews are aggressively working to gain containment and protect structures in the area.
