The Mateo Fire is now 100% contained as of 1800.

The Mateo Fire is now 68% contained. While minimal fire behavior has been observed, terrain and no existing access routes are hampering control efforts. In the areas they can reach, firefighters continue to strengthen control lines, mop up, and patrol for embers. Portions of the fire are inaccessible due to safety concerns.

Crews on the Mateo Fire continue to strengthen control lines and extinguish hot spots, the fire is now 60% contained.

The fire grew to approximately 1,183 acres yesterday and stayed at that size overnight and remains at 40% containment. Overnight firefighters reinforced containment lines and are continuing to monitor the surrounding hillsides for any additional flare ups or “spotting” away from the fire.
There are currently eight hotshot crews, one support task force from Arizona State Forestry consisting of type 3 and type 6 engines, two water tender, two bulldozers and five helicopter aviation resources on-site. All consisting of a total of 460 personnel assisting on the fire.
While firefighters are working on fighting the Mateo fire, the public is asked to use caution with anything that can spark a fire as the Southern California weather continues to heat up and vegetation dries out. For future updates, please visit: (18) Facebook

No change to acreage or containment. Terrain continues to make access to the fire perimeter difficult. Areas of the fire are inaccessible due to safety concerns.

The fire remains active in some areas, with firefighters continuing to work to slow its spread and strengthen containment lines. Steep terrain and limited access continue to make suppression efforts challenging.
