Firefighters have achieved full containment of the fire.
Line construction is nearing completion and some resources will be released today.
The Dove Fire is 95% contained.
The containment line is growing closer to completion and firefighters are moving closer to complete mop-up as well.

Firefighters observed minimal activity overnight. However, areas of heat still exist within the fires boundary. Supression repair is progressing well. Some resources have been released, the remaining firefighters working today are from the local area.
Areas of heat and smoldering still exist in pockets of heavy fuels, firefighters will continue to mop-up those areas.
Overnight, firefighters used infrared images to locate and extinguish hot spots within the fire's perimeter. As gains in containment are achieved, suppression repair resources have begun their work of restoring the land for water run-off and drainage
It is important to remember that firefighters, equipment, utility workers, and contractors are working in the area. Use caution when driving in previously closed areas, follow all road signage instructions and if you identify safety concerns or hazards, please report them.
Contianment line construction and reinforcements continues to increase while firefighters also suppress isolated areas of heat. Damage inspections are progressing and details will be provided when available.

Firefighters took advantage of cooler temperatures overnight and were able to increase containment. Smoke from isolated pockets of heat well within the fires perimeter maybe visable to the community however, expanding the depth of the fireline and mop up are a focus of crews as work to achieve full containment continues.
Construction of indirect containment line and improvement of established fireline remains the focus of firefighter efforts. Areas of heat still exist within the fire perimiter and resources are conducting mop up to eliminate these isolated pockets of heat. The increase in containment has led to repopulation of additional areas near the fire. Damaged utilities are being reparied. Damage inspections are in progress.
Some evacuation changes have been made and are posted on the Tuolumne County Sherrif's Office Facebook page. The evacuation shelter in Tuolumne is available to residents still needing assistance. Areas No Longer Under Any Evacuation: Residences and businesses on the north side of Stockton Road east of Nancy’s Hope.
Overnight, crews worked towards increasing containment. Continued efforts today will widen and strengthen the fire's perimeter.
CAL FIRE Law Enforcement Officers arrested 30-year-old Jacob Williams Hoskins on Sunday, July 26, 2026, in Tuolumne County. Through an extensive investigation, Hoskins, of Sonora, was identified as the suspect responsible for causing the Dove Fire on July 26, 2026. The Dove Fire occurred in the greater downtown area of Sonora in Tuolumne County. The Dove Fire burned approximately 223 acres of vegetation.
Firefighters worked throughout the day constructing and securing control lines. Those efforts will continue throughout the night.
Evacuation information has changed as firefighters continue to work on containment lines and securing the fire's perimeter.

A Fire Management Assistance Grant (FMAG) has been secured to support the response to the Dove Fire in Tuolumne County.
CHP will be opening Highway 108 to one lane.
Three night-flying helicopters will conduct water-dropping operations.
The Dove Fire is in Unified Command with Sonora City Fire Department, Tuolumne County Sheriff, and CHP.
The Dove Fire is holding within the retardant lines, yet still has a moderate rate of spread. Firefighters continue to engage the fire to establish and reinforce containment lines.
