The Grade Fire is now 100% contained. Personnel will remain at the scene continuing to patrol the burn area. In addition, personnel will pull out all the fire hose used during the incident. The road closure at East Grade Road will be lifted this evening.
Containment is now 90% on the Grade Fire. Firefighters are seen mopping up hot ash pits, a critical step in the suppression efforts. These ash pits can threaten containment near the fire perimeter.
Working conditions remain the same - high temperatures and rugged terrain. Hand crews continue direct line construction on the Grade Fire, mitigating fire spread by removing vegetation and strengthening containment lines.
As the sun is rising personnel attend their operational briefing before relieving the night crews on the Grade Fire. The briefing consist of the operational objectives for the day, what to expect regarding weather, safety briefing, logistical needs, medical plan in case of injuries, and any special messages from the incident commanders.
The Grade Fire is now 80% contained.
Fire continues to hold at 689 acres. The increase in containment to 65% is attributed to the hard work that firefighters are committed to completing.
It’s tough, grueling work. Hand crews on the Grade Fire dig line in extreme heat and unforgiving terrain, working to contain the fire and protect surrounding communities.
Fire engine personnel are investigating potential hot spots on the Grade Fire.
Here is a great example of patrolling and mopping up. Crews will stir up the dirt in the burned affected areas, exposing the hidden hot spots that would pose a threat to the conatinment, highlighting the importance of this tedious task after the fire has been extinguished.
FireFighters worked hard overnight and successfully increased the containment to 55%. Crews will continue building and improving the containment line today.
Firefighters have worked hard to increase the containment to 45%.
Firefighters continue patrolling the fire’s perimeter and extinguishing remaining hotspots despite temperatures exceeding 100 degrees. Crews are working diligently in the extreme heat to strengthen containment lines, identify hidden sources of heat, and keep the fire securely within its established perimeter. Their efforts remain focused on increasing containment and protecting nearby communities.
The Grade Fire is 689 acres, per remote sensing aircraft.
The Grade Fire is 670 acres and 15% contained. There was no fire growth overnight. The acreage increase is due to improved mapping.
The temporary Evacuation Point located at Harrah's Casino, 777 Harrahs Rincon Way, Valley Center, has been closed due to repopulation.
