Newtown Update: The fire is currently holding at 3 acres, with two small spot fires being worked on outside the retardant lines.
Per CHP, road closures are in effect in the area, including both sides of Newtown Road near the fire and the eastern end of Fort Jim Road. Please avoid the area and allow emergency crews room to work.
Firefighters are on scene of a vegetation fire in the 4700 block of Newtown Road, outside the Pleasant Valley area. The fire is approximately 3 acres, burning in timber understory and grass at a moderate rate of spread.
