Shelter in Place has been lifted for Zones MRY-BO47, MRY-B050 and MRY-B053. Zone 3340-PAZ 1A is still a Shelter in Place order.

Firefighters from the North Monterey County Fire District were dispatched to the Moss Landing Power Plant just after 6:15 a.m. for a reported structure fire.

Crews arrived to find smoke and fire coming from the north side of the facility. Firefighters are on scene conducting evacuations and accounting for plant personnel while working to stabilize the incident.

Shelter-in-place warnings are in effect for areas near the incident. There is also an impact to traffic on Highway 1 in the Moss Landing area. Motorists are asked to avoid the area and allow emergency crews access.

Evacuation Order: An immediate threat to life. This is an order by law enforcement to leave immediately. The area is lawfully closed to public access.
Evacuation Warning: A potential threat to life and/or property. Those who require additional time to evacuate and those with pets and livestock should leave immediately.
Advisory: Residents should be aware of the situation and be prepared to evacuate if conditions worsen.
Shelter in Place: Go inside the nearest safe building, lock all doors and windows, and stay there until local authorities give the "all clear".
Evacuation Order Lifted: Officials have determined the immediate danger has passed. Residents may return home but should remain alert for any changes in conditions or updated instructions.
Normal: No current threats to life or property.
Red Flag Warning: National Weather Service Red Flag Warnings indicate warm temperatures, very low humidities, and stronger winds that can combine to produce an increased risk of fire danger.
