The Forest Management Plan (FMP) provides overarching goals and general parameters for the management of Jackson Demonstration State Forest for the next 10 years, or until a subsequent plan or major revision is approved. 

This page provides the public with information to understand the process and development of the 2026 FMP. The public comment period for the JDSF Draft 2026 FMP closed on 12/12/25. Additional opportunities to submit comments to the Board of Forestry will be shared when the JDSF Final Draft 2026 FMP is released.

Public Outreach Goals

This section will highlight CAL FIRE’s commitment to community engagement and long-term planning for JDSF.

The goal of public outreach is to:

  • Ensure transparency in the forest management process.
  • Involve local communities and tribal groups in decision-making.
  • Provide educational resources on sustainable forestry practices.
  • Maintain open lines of communication between CALFIRE and stakeholders.
